Budtenders at Lake Effect are responsible for providing each customer with an authentic, extraordinary experience guiding customers to the best cannabis products to fit their unique needs through meaningful, genuine, knowledgeable interactions. You will assist customers through the process of understanding, selecting, and purchasing cannabis products, including but not limited to flower, concentrates, edibles, topicals, specialty products, and devices for various forms of consumption. Our budtenders will be a key part of the customer experience and, therefore specialize in customer service by being friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate. A budtender must maintain compliance with all cannabis retail regulations and keep the sales floor and display cases clean and orderly.

Qualified applicants should have retail sales and customer service experience. An ideal candidate has cannabis product knowledge. Cannabis industry experience is preferred but we’re willing to train the right candidate.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Deliver the highest quality customer experience for both new and experienced cannabis consumers.
• Follow established policies and procedures both for internal and state compliance.
• Provide cannabis product knowledge as well as guidance on various consumption methods related to each product type.
• Accurate use of the Point of Sale (POS) system.
• Verify ID for customers during the check-in process to ensure compliance with state regulations.
• Ensure customer questions or concerns are resolved quickly and completely and communicate any requests or unresolved concerns to management immediately.
• Ensure the sales floor, breakroom, and all other shared spaces remain clean, tidy, and sanitized throughout the workday.
• Restock sales area & POS displays
• Facilitate cash handling in accordance with all Lake Effect VT policies.
• Attend, contribute, and engage in staff meetings and training.
• Assist with inventory control, labeling, quality assurance, and quantity verification as needed on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
• Contribute to an environment where forward-thinking, diversity, and inclusion are part of your team.
• Assist the General Manager with other duties to maintain a productive retail business.
• Attend an authorized mandatory training in order to serve customers cannabis products via the CCB rule 2.2.5(b)(i-v) and 2.2.5(c)

Authority & Supervision:

• Budtenders will report directly to and be under the supervision of the dispensary General Manager.

Required Qualifications / Experience:

• Must have at least 3 years of experience in a customer-facing retail service position.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license or state ID and be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a positive approach to learning and a passion for increasing their knowledge of cannabis and cannabis products. Candidates don’t need to have encyclopedic knowledge about cannabis, but should be able to learn & retain product information.
• Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills and a desire to go above and beyond to help a variety of customers with their needs. 
• Must enjoy working independently as well as collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and with a diverse group of coworkers. 
• As required by the Vermont Cannabis Control Board, employees must complete a state and federal background check and have a valid state-issued ID. Desired Qualifications / Experience:

• Experience working in a cannabis dispensary. 
• Experience using POS software.
• Familiarity with Vermont Cannabis regulations. 
• Organizational and time management skills.
• Familiarity with the Dutchie menu & platform.

Schedule:

16+ hrs/week. Saturdays and Sundays are a must.

Compensation:

$20/hr. +Tips. Employee Discount.
